Katie Holmes Assists Daughter Suri Cruise with Move-In for Freshman Year at Carnegie Mellon

The mother-daughter duo were recently spotted in new photos at Carnegie Mellon University, where Suri will start her freshman year as an undergraduate.

Suri Cruise is officially starting her undergraduate journey! Before beginning her freshman year at Carnegie Mellon University, the 18-year-old was seen moving into her dorm with help from her mother, Katie Holmes.

On August 19, 2024, photos published by *Page Six* showed Katie and Suri navigating the Pittsburgh campus with large bags and luggage. In one image, Katie, 45, carried a large white bag over her shoulder while walking alongside Suri, who wheeled two suitcases behind her. For the move-in day, Katie wore jeans and a cream white collared top, while Suri opted for baggy denim capris and a loose white blouse. Later, they were seen strolling through the college town.

Katie and Suri have enjoyed a private life in New York City since Katie’s 2012 divorce from Tom Cruise, with whom she shares Suri. Despite their private nature, Katie has occasionally shared her pride and joy in being Suri’s mother. For Mother’s Day in May 2021, she posted an Instagram photo of a young Suri, captioning it, “I am so grateful to be a mom to the sweetest daughter. Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms!!!!”

In a recent interview with *Town & Country*, Katie expressed how proud she is of her daughter and her excitement for this new chapter. “I’m proud of my daughter. Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I’m really proud of her, and I’m happy,” Katie shared. “I remember being this age, this time of beginnings. It’s exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that.”
